From humble beginnings to a successful business venture: why doing the right thing is its own reward

In any schoolroom or church across the country, if you asked children to explain the 'Golden Rule', they would define it as "do unto others as you would have them do unto you", or essentially, treat others the way you would like to be treated. Though widely understood and often repeated, this mentality is often forgotten or misplaced as children grow into adults, and it is rarely found in practice in today's business world.

Not so for Foster Price, creator and owner of Foster's Collision in Raleigh, NC. He's applied this philosophy in various situations throughout his life and employs it daily in his thriving automobile repair business. For Foster, it's more than a mentality - it's a way of life.

"I have spent my life making decisions based on doing what I consider the 'right thing', and that internal, ethical compass has never steered me in the wrong direction," Foster said. "Sometimes, doing the right thing is as simple as helping others - and that's what we try to do every day, at work, and at home."

What began in 1984 as a one-man, auto-body-repair operation has evolved into a successful total collision repair business with two locations in the Triangle area. Despite this phenomenal growth and development over the course of the past 24 years, Foster's values and his commitment to doing the right thing for his clientele remains unchanged.
